Nati Kaji, whose real name was Amrit Lal Shrestha, was a legendary Nepali singer and songwriter born on December 25, 1925 in Pulchowk, Lalitpur. He was a prominent figure in the Nepali music industry, known as the “Melody King”.
Nati Kaji started his musical journey at the age of 7, playing the harmonium at the Gujeshwori Bhajan Mandali. He joined Radio Nepal in 1950 as a singer and musician, where he worked for 40 years, composing over 2000 songs in various genres including patriotic songs, love songs, bhajans, and children’s songs.
