Prashna Shakya was born on April 26 in Dharan, Nepal to parents Sumitra and Binod Shakya. She has a sister and brother. From a young age, Shakya showed a keen interest in music, despite her parents wanting her to pursue sports in school. As a teenager, she began taking music lessons, studying under Dibya Khaling, and participated in a singing contest by Radio Nepal where she was named a finalist.
Shakya released her debut album “Hi! Hello” in 1997, followed by “Aaawaz” in 2003. That same year, she was awarded the title of “Best Pop Performance Female” by Hits FM. Her subsequent albums include “Udayan” (2008) and “Prashna” (2015).
In 2016, Shakya performed the theme song for the National Games of Nepal alongside Sumit Kadka. The following year, she represented the Embassy of Nepal in a performance at the Pakistan National Council of Arts with Anand Karki.

Personally, Prashna Shakya was married to film director and singer Araj Keshav in 2009, but the couple divorced in 2015. Her melodious voice and impactful performances have earned her a dedicated fan following and cemented her place as a prominent figure in the Nepali pop music scene.
