Ram Thapa was a highly respected folk singer and musician from Nepal, born on August 18, 1958, in Kamalpokhar, Kathmandu. He began his singing career in 1974 and was known for his soulful voice and ability to connect with his audience through his music. Thapa was a prolific artist, having sung over 150 folk songs and directed more than 200 songs. He was also a pioneer in Nepal for publishing music books of lyrics and chords.
His most popular evergreen songs include: “katar katar ma”, “Lekali Hey Choya Ko Doko”, “Kati Baschhau Maitikai Kausima” and many more.
Thapa passed away on November 20, 2008, at the age of 50, due to liver complications. Throughout his career, he received numerous awards and accolades for his contributions to Nepali music, and his legacy continues to be celebrated in the Nepali music industry.
