Bibek Waiba Lama, known by his stage name Vek, is a rising Nepali singer who gained popularity after appearing on the reality show The Voice of Nepal in 2017. During his audition, Vek performed the song “Despacito” and was selected by coaches Abhaya and Pramod where he reached semifinals.
Vek is from Kathmandu Nepal and has a unique style and stage presence that captivates audiences. Vek often collaborates with other Nepali artists, such as Yabesh Thapa, with whom he released the song “Mayalu” in 2020. His collaboration with International Star Jason Derulo added a big step in his career.
He was inspired to become a singer by his elder brother and his love for music since childhood. Influenced by his brother, Vek developed an interest in rock music during his teenage years and later explored pop and punk rock genres. Despite rarely singing in school, Vek’s talent was recognized when he was selected by Radio Nepal to sing at one of its programs, which sparked his journey into music.
Following his success on The Voice of Nepal, Vek released his debut single “Kina” and gained popularity with songs like “Lai Bari Lai” and “Eklai Jiuna Sike”. He prioritizes live performances, adding backtrack and dancers to raise the energy of his shows.
